Slight Delay

So this weekend a friend of mine let me know about an opening at his current place of employment. It’s a data monitoring job, but it’s not the kind of thing I would have imagined me doing. Just to be sure, I went over to his place on Saturday and watched him on one of his work-from-home days.

The job looks fairly straight-forward- monitor data packets as they come in and make sure that there are no errors. It seems like I’d be expected to try and troubleshoot any errors that came through before escalating them to the next tier of support. Throughout the course of the few hours I watched him, the job seemed less and less alien to me. It’s definitely the type of job I can see myself doing. If nothing else, I think it’d be a great experience and would definitely help me get my foot in the technology door.

So, because of that, I spent some of the time I’d planned on working on my server doing something proactive to maybe get a job. I spent the rest of the weekend touching up my resume and working on cover letters. I even applied to a few addtional jobs. So no updates on the lab-front. I can’t wait to have my lab in the same building I live in. It being a 30-minute drive away makes it a little difficult to work with on the schedule I have now.
